As an industrial designer, I’m always looking for new challenges that allow me to express my creativity and bring something new to the table. That’s why when I heard about the #DoWhatFloatsYourBoat challenge, teamed by Yanko Design and boAt Lifestyle, I knew I had to participate.

For this challenge, I decided to work on the appearance of the boAt Stone 1200F speaker. It’s a great product with a sleek and modern design that appeals to a young audience. For that reason, I wanted to inject a little bit of wildness and youthfulness into the design, something that would really make it stand out from the crowd.

To achieve this, I decided to keep the original design of the speaker but change up the colour palette. Instead of the usual blacks and greys, I chose a bold and vibrant combination of orange, green, and blue. These colours perfectly represent the wild and adventurous spirit of the brand, and I knew they would resonate with young people who are looking for something different and exciting.

Understanding boAt Lifestyle’s brand identity and design language was an essential stage in the process, this mood board captures the essence of the vibrant, young audience that the brand targets. With a focus on music enthusiasts, the clean and minimal renders showcase boAt products while conveying a playful and energetic style that resonates with the brand’s image.

In addition to the colour palette, I also worked on the product visualization. I wanted to showcase the speaker in a way that reflected its fresh and powerful style. I decided to take shots in a style that “floats my boat”, using a mix of bold angles, close-ups, and dynamic poses.
